Madison-based F-16 jet crashes in Michigan, injuries unknown
An F-16 Fighting Falcon from the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Field crashed Tuesday night in Michigan.
MADISON, Wis. — An F-16 Fighting Falcon from the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Field crashed Tuesday night in Michigan.
In a release, the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs said the jet crashed at 8 p.m. in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. At the time of the crash, officials said the jet was on a training mission with one pilot on board.
Emergency responders are at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the pilot’s condition is unknown.

Some F-16 fighter jets based at Madison’s Truax Field have been doing night training this week. It’s unclear whether the pilot involved in the crash had been part of that training.
