YEAR SENTENCE AND WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN HIS ONLINE HEARING. SOME NEWS IS DIFFICULT FOR US TO REPORT. WE ARE MORNING A MASSIVE — MOURNING MASSIVE LOSS. CHUCK CLARK HAS DIED AT THE AGE OF 70. HE WORKED AT WGAL FOR 50 YEARS UNTIL LAST WEEK. JANELLE STELSON HAS A LOOK AT HIS LIFE AND LEGACY. >> PLEASE JOIN ME IN A ROUND OF APPLAUSE CELEBRATING CHUCK. JANELLE: JUST LAST NOVEMBER HE WAS INDUCTED INTO WGAL’S HALL OF FAME, THE ONLY EMPLOYEE STILL WORKING HERE TO EARN THE HONOR. STARTING IN 1969, OVER HIS 50 YEAR CAREER, NEEDED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM PREPPING FILM — HE DID JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM PEP — PREPPING FILM, DIRECTING THE NEWS AND GUIDING THE COMPLEX AUDIO BOARD. HIS SON TELLS US THAT HE LOVED WORKING HERE. OVER THE PAST FIVE DECADES, HE TRAINED AND MEN TOWARD COUNTLESS YOUNG BROADCASTERS, SHARING THAT KNOWLEDGE. LAST WEEK HE WAS RUNNING THE AUDIO BOARD FOR NEWSCASTS. HE CELEBRATED HIS 50TH ANNIVERSARY LAST YEAR AND TALKED ABOUT THE TECHNICAL CHANGES HE HAS SEEN. >> I SAW IT GO FROM ELECTRIC TO ELECTRONICS BECAUSE WE HAD MACHINERY THAT WAS SO HUGE WHEN I FIRST CAME HERE THAT NOW IT IS REDUCED TO THE SIZE OF A CELL PHONE. YEARS AGO YOU COULD NOT RECORD THINGS LIKE THAT ON A CELL PHONE. IT WAS NOT THOUGHT OF. JANELL HIS SON TELLS US THAT HIS FATHER WAS ADMITTED TO LANCASTER GENERAL HOSPITAL SATURDAY WHERE HE TESTED POSITIVE FOR THE CORONAVIRUS AND WAS TREATED IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT. HE PASSED AWAY MONDAY MORNING WITH HIS WIFE BY HIS SIDE. ANNE: — JERE: A TOUGH DAY. HE WAS QUICK WITH THAT SMILE AND LAUGHTER. HE WAS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT BRIGHTENS YOUR DAY. ANNE: WHENEVER HE WAS IN THE ROOM, IT WAS NOT LIKE HE WANTED A LOT OF ATTENTION BUT HE WAS A GENTLE, AND KIND PERSON THAT YOU COULD NOT HELP BUT LOVE HIM. CHRISTINE: 3:45, I WOULD WAIT FOR HIM TO WALK IN AND HAND ME MY MICROPHONE AND SAY GOOD MORNING, NO MATTER HOW STRESSED OUT I WAS ABOUT THE FORECAST. OR HOW FRUSTRATED, HE WOULD MAKE ME SMILE. HE WAS HAPPY AND A GENUINE PERSON. 50 YEARS HERE, AND LEFT A HUGE HOLE IN OUR HEARTS. Our longtime audio engineer, Chuck Clark, has died of coronavirus at the age of 70. Chuck worked at WGAL for 50 years, right up until last week.
